RECON crew installing a paver patio and dry-stack stone retaining wall with xeriscape planting beds behind a Colorado home

Residential & Commercial Site Work

Build the Ground,
Not Just the Building.

Most landscape failure is water failure. We build hardscapes, walls, and grades that move water away from foundations instead of into them — paver patios and walkways, engineered retaining walls, drainage that works in a sudden downpour, and low-water landscapes that survive a brutal August.

Hardscapes, Drainage & Site Work

Water Is the
Whole Job.

A patio that heaves, a wall that leans, a window well that fills every spring — they all trace back to grade and drainage. We start with where the water goes, then build the hardscape on a base that holds. It's the same asset-protection thinking we bring to roofs and envelopes, applied to the ground around the building.

Grading & Drainage

Positive slope away from foundations, swales and dry creek beds that carry volume, French drains and area drains where the grade can't do it alone, downspout extensions tied into a system instead of dumping at the wall. Wet basements and settled slabs are drainage problems first.

Hardscapes & Walls

Paver patios, walkways, and driveways over properly compacted base with the right edge restraint — not sand over dirt. Segmental and boulder retaining walls built with drainage stone, geogrid where the height calls for it, and base courses set below grade so the wall stays where we put it.

Xeriscape & Outdoor Living

Low-water plantings, rock and mulch beds, efficient drip irrigation, and turf reduction that cuts a water bill without turning the yard into gravel. Add fire pits, seat walls, pergolas, and lighting, and the space actually gets used.

How a Project Runs — Four Steps

  1. 01

    Walk the Site

We look at slope, soil, downspouts, existing hardscape, and where water is already telling you it has a problem. Photos and measurements, not a guess from the curb.

  2. 02

    Scope & Design

You get a defined scope with materials, elevations, drainage strategy, and a real number — plus what we'd cut first if the budget needs to come down. Phasing is normal and we plan for it.

  3. 03

    Build It Right

Excavation, subgrade prep, compaction, drainage installation, then the visible work. Crews protect existing surfaces, control dust and mud, and keep the site walkable for you and your residents.

  4. 04

    Walk It Together

We close out with a walkthrough, as-built notes on buried drainage, maintenance guidance, and warranty terms in writing — so the next person who works on the property knows what's under the surface.

Fit

Who This Is For

Homeowners

You want a yard you use and a basement that stays dry. We handle both in one scope instead of sending you to a landscaper, an excavator, and a concrete crew separately.

HOAs & Multifamily

Common-area hardscape, failing walls, trip hazards, and drainage complaints across a community — scoped as a phased program with predictable pricing per building or per zone.

Commercial Properties

Entrances, walkways, parking islands, and site drainage that affect tenant experience and liability. We work around business hours and keep access open.

Questions Owners Ask

Do you handle drainage problems only, without the landscaping?

Yes. Plenty of our site work is purely corrective — regrading, swales, drains, downspout tie-ins, and window well work to get water away from a foundation. If that's the whole scope, that's the whole scope.

How tall can a retaining wall be before it needs engineering?

It depends on height, surcharge, and soil, and Local jurisdictions each have their own threshold. We'll tell you when a wall needs a stamped design and pull the engineer in rather than eyeballing it and hoping.

Will xeriscape actually look good, or just look like rock?

Done properly it's planting design, not gravel. Structured beds, ornamental grasses, perennials, boulders, and hardscape edges — with drip irrigation so the plants establish. The water savings come from turf reduction, not from giving up on plants.

Can this be phased over multiple years?

Yes, and for HOAs and commercial owners it usually should be. We sequence the drainage and wall work first — the things that cause damage — and schedule the finish work as budget allows.

Water Going the
Wrong Direction?

Tell us what the site is doing — standing water, a leaning wall, a patio that's moved, a lawn you're tired of watering. We'll walk it, document the grade and drainage, and scope the fix in the order that actually protects the building.

  • On-site walkthrough with photos and measurements
  • Drainage strategy before finish selections
  • Phased scope options if budget is tight
